In this blog, weβll create a backend for Generative AI News Search. Weβll be using Metaβs Llama-3 8B model served via Groqβs LPU.
If you still havenβt heard about Groq, then let me enlighten you. Groq is setting a new standard for inference speeds for text generation in large language models (LLMs). Groq provides an LPU (Language Processing Unit) interface engine which is a new type of end-to-end processing unit system that provides the fastest inference for computationally intensive applications with a sequential component to them, as in LLMs.
We wonβt be diving deep into how inference is blazing fast on Groq compared to GPUs. We want to leverage the speed increase provided by Groq and Llama 3βs text-generation capabilities to create a Generative AI News Search. This will be similar to Bing AI Search, Google AI Search, or PPLX.
Metaβs recent release of the Llama 3 models has been a great hit. The bigger 70B Llama 3 model is currently ranked fifth in the LMSys LLM Leaderboard. On tasks in the English language, the same model is ranked second just behind GPT-4.
According to Metaβs Llama 3 release blog, the 8B model is the best in its category and the… Read the full blog for free on Medium.
