I used Windows 11 on my PC for most of the tasks, and my laptop was only for taking notes or going on work trips. But now, I had to use Linux without any compromises. I work as a data scientist, and I use my PC a lot both during work and leisure time. That’s why this experiment may be interesting for other data scientists considering switching.
I used Pop!_OS, which is basically Ubuntu with some things preinstalled (like NVIDIA drivers — it was always a pain to set them up). I used it for browsing, gaming, studying, machine learning and desktop/web development.
In this article, I will share the main results of this change — did it make my life easier or harder, what was different now and where I encountered problems. Finally, I will answer the question — can you switch to Linux and do everything what you did on Windows, or are there some things which are irreplaceable, and you have to use Windows… Read the full blog for free on Medium.
