Mastering Midjourney — Creating Characters to use with cref

Not every character is cref ready, here are some tips for creating characters that will work better with the character reference tool.

In my previous article about Cute Characters I discovered that non-humanoid creatures do not fare well with the new character reference (cref) tool. So, this time, I have created a tuner of fun human-looking steampunk fairies to work with. Now that we have the style reference (sref) and character reference tools, the Style Tuner is much more useful. It allows us to throw styles around quickly and easily hone in on the look of the image desired. It was suggested that I try a more cartoon style using the Niji engine in Midjourney as it is trained on anime. For the examples in this article, I had a good feeling about the results it was giving me.
