AI-assisted coding can be amazing, but it can still cause issues if you are not fully aware of what it has done. AI often asserts that the code it has just revised will work well, only to be proven wrong. If you look at a purely AI-coded page from the surface, it can look beautiful initially. But if you dig deep and try to change things around, it may behave worse than an entry-level developer, despite the fact that the code on one page alone looks well-versed and impeccably clean.
If you know how to code without AI assistance, AI assisted coding will be a blessing that boosts your performance by 2x to 5x. However, if you cannot code without AI assistants, maintaining the code will not be easy. The main problem of AI coding is inconsistency and not seeing the whole picture. I have listed some limitations of AI coding here.
To mitigate these drawbacks, measures such as memory, rules, task listing, and history summaries are being tested. However, it will take some time for these new tactics and features to become fully utilized by LLMs. In the meantime, based on my recent two real-world projects, here’s how you… Read the full blog for free on Medium.
