This post is about the dilemma AI technology poses to our human biological cognition. This dilemma has no easy solution and poses something of an x-risk (existential risk) to the future standing of the human thinking faculty. To put it bluntly, if we (over)use AI, in the long run, it will displace us, neutralize us, and nullify the human cognitive domain. It will surpass our cognition and make it redundant and useless. On the other hand, if we do not use it, we will sit on the sidelines and become an ancient relic of the past. As the saying goes, time waits for no one. AI technology doesn’t either.

To put the conversation in a philosophical perspective, remember what Hamlet in Shakespeare’s play says in his famous soliloquy, “To be or not to be, that is the question.” More amusingly, the student, in Jaques Prevert’s poem, “L’accent grave”, playfully responds to the professor by saying, “Être où ne pas être, C’est peut-être aussi la question” (To be where you are not, that, too, may be the question).
