The artificial intelligence (AI) technology is still keeping on its fast-paced growth in the technological fields, and it is changing the whole process of software designing, building, testing, and maintenance, just to mention a few. AI tools, which were once thought of only in terms of science fiction, are now considered to be very helpful and usable in everyday software engineering activities, such as code generation assistants and even autonomous testing platforms. Companies are more and more using automation to perform routine and predictable tasks, which leads to a decrease in the time required to launch a product and the cost of operation. Reports from analysts and corporate surveys reveal that AI will not entirely replace developers, but will, instead, automate certain functions and even whole roles that have been the entry points for most people new to the profession. This is the reason why the labor market is being restructured with human expertise that needs to adapt or become extinct.
This article examines five specific software development fields where AI is poised to replace human workers by 2026 due to the nature of the tasks involved and rapid AI tool adoption.
