AI is incredible, no doubt about it. But let’s talk about something that’s been bugging me: the cost of using GPT-4. It’s undeniably powerful, but the price adds up quickly, especially when you’re running many queries. I recently ran some experiments, and after just 10 queries with GPT-4, I’d spent more than $5 for my new content which I will talk about in my upcoming blog. That might not sound like much, but when you compare it to GPT-3.5 — which would have cost a fraction of that — it really makes you wonder: is GPT-4 worth the extra cost?
Let’s break down the 8 Lessons I learned including the price difference between GPT-4 and GPT-3.5, and why, for many use cases, GPT-3.5 might actually be the smarter (and cheaper) choice.
There’s no question about it: GPT-4 is a beast. Its ability to understand context, generate more detailed responses, and tackle complex queries is way beyond anything GPT-3.5 can do. I’ve noticed that it’s especially good at handling multi-step prompts, offering in-depth insights, and producing long-form content. But here’s the kicker: it’s expensive.
After running 10 queries… Read the full blog for free on Medium.
