Which of the following expectations about AI do you think are realistic?

We’ll achieve Artificial General Intelligence in the next year, so robots with AI will be able to do everything we do.AI chatbots will have human feelings and emotions.AI will never have genuine reasoning and understanding.

If you ask me, I’d tell you these are all ill-constructed questions.

Look, AGI (“Artificial General Intelligence”) is a valid goal because it would eliminate the highly costly training phase of AI. When you put an AGI in an environment (like domestic chores or driving), it will basically figure things out by itself or with a short explanation.

By the way, I don’t think we are even close to AGI at all.

But the deepest trouble with the first phrase is the part that says, “AI will be able to do everything we do.” It implies that AI is on the way to “becoming like us,” which is nonsense, as I argue in this post.

Expecting AI to be like us is also a problem with the second phrase (feelings and emotions in AI chatbots). We know that AI can express feelings in its writing and even more when speaking, but these are not… Read the full blog for free on Medium.
