Learn to Build — Towards AI Community Newsletter
Welcome again to this first iteration of our community newsletter — a now separated entity from our usual weekly news/paper-oriented newsletter. This one is all about you, members of the Towards AI family, with some touch from the What’s AI family for those of you following my work on YouTube as well.
I am excited to hear your feedback on this first try of ours. Be ready to discover amazing projects and collaboration opportunities from the Learn AI Together Discord server members and keep learning with the best articles we’ve published every week. By the way, you can be featured here as well! How? Just be active on our discord and exchange/share what you do with us there!
Now, let’s dive right into it with this week’s podcast episode featuring my friend Paige Bailey, product manager at Google DeepMind, one of the coolest companies in the field (in my opinion).

What’s AI Weekly
In this week’s What’s AI Podcast episode, Louis Bouchard interviewed Paige Bailey, Lead product manager at Google DeepMind and previously working at Microsoft GitHub building Copilot. In this episode, they discussed the democratization of AI, advancements in AI-assisted coding, and the ethics of innovation. Paige also discussed the need for responsible AI development, the importance of careful product design around LLMs, the role of a product manager within AI research teams, and much more. If you want to discover how AI is subtly reshaping our everyday experiences and the realm of software engineering, tune in on YouTube, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.

Featured Community post from the Discord
Aminkamali recently published the second article of their three-part blog series on creating an AI assistant to summarize YouTube videos. This post dives into the intricate process of taking the video’s transcript and summarizing it using LangChain and Hugging Face. It covers the fundamentals of text summarization, making inferences efficiently with limited resources using quantization or remotely using Hugging Face API calls, as well as some thoughts on the design decisions and how they might change with technological advancements in the future.
