Model diagnostics are used widely when creating data science models. It’s crucial to understand the principles of simple models before diving into the details of complicated models⁷.

This blog focuses on running model diagnostics using a rather straightforward model, such as linear regression. Before moving on to diagnostics, we’ll try to understand the assumptions of simple linear regression. We won’t go through the mathematical formulae instead, we’ll try to understand the respective diagnostics to apply them in practice using packages.
